How to protect against chlamydia?

Chlamydia infection can lead to infertility and is especially dangerous because it usually does not manifest any symptoms. Transmitted through sexual contact, and the only real way to protect the condom from it, advises Dr. Mima Fazlagić, obstetrics and gynecology clinics of "Madison."

If left untreated, chlamydia can lead to sterility. Transmitted through sexual contact, so the best way to prevent the use of condoms
Chlamydia is a microorganism that, in addition features of bacteria, there are some specific characteristic of the virus, which is the reason for its serious treatment. Transmitted through sexual contact, and therefore falls into the category of sexually transmitted infections. It is very common, and about 20 percent of cases the cause of problems in people who are treated for infertility, according to Dr. Mime Fazlagic, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology clinics of "Madison."
- Chlamydia is spread through sex and the condom is the best way to protect yourself from it.Unprotected intercourse, promiscuity, and poor immune status increase the risk of infection - says Fazlagić.

SYMPTOMS
Chlamydia can infect a woman's cervix and urinary tract, and can go completely unnoticed, even though the incubation period is short, in most cases the symptoms are absent, and if they occur and are usually very mild and undefined.
- A woman may experience nonspecific discomfort in the vagina, swelling of the vagina, discomfort during intercourse or increased discharge. If chlamydia is found in the urethra, symptoms may include discomfort during urination, difficulty urinating, mild urethral itching ... However, these symptoms do not occur at all in a large number of infected women - said gynecologist.

TESTING
Chlamydia does not show the normal vaginal and cervical smear - to diagnose, it is necessary to do a targeted deletion of specific substrates. It is often invisible - latent sexual disease that if left untreated, can lead to blockage of the fallopian tubes, and consequently to infertility. Therefore it is advisable to periodically tested by a doctor. After appropriate treatment prescribed by a doctor in case of a positive test, and recurrences are possible, so we need to do several tests of control over time.

Chlamydia in Pregnancy
Previously it was thought that chlamydia in pregnancy leads to preterm delivery, but recent research has shown that it is not.
- Women during pregnancy usually does not work on the swab for chlamydia infections in the case of specific treatment with antibiotics may be toxic to the fetus. Although in theory be transmitted from mother to baby and lead to eye infections, if found in the birth canal, it is in practice not be found, and there is no reason for concern - said gynecologist.

TREATMENT
- Half of all non-specific inflammation of genital tract infections are caused by infection with chlamydia. However, about her recent fame is unnecessary because the government is, after you test access to treatment and cure - explains Dr. Fazlagić. - Earlier routinely cared for the tetracyclines, and today is used a wider range of newer generations of antibiotics to which the organism responds. Depending on the assessment of doctors - the amount of chlamydia in the body, and the condition of the patient, the treatment is carried out intensively for a week or more different antibiotics, which can take up to one month.
Partner may, but need not be infected - it depends on its immune status. The most common approach is the parallel treatment of both partners, if chlamydia is detected in one and did not use protection. Using condoms during treatment is mandatory in order to treat it successfully.
